The University of Houston offers 120 undergraduate majors and minors , and several pre-professional programs leading to careers in medicine, law, pharmacy and more. We also offer comprehensive programs leading to teacher certification and a five-year, dual-degree program .

Education through Experience
In addition to a broad range of studies, UH offers opportunities to broaden your perspectives and create a unique educational experience. All undergraduates are invited to study abroad or join our College Success Program , where you'll find extra help in navigating the curriculum. For exceptionally motivated students, our Honors College , provides extraordinary opportunities in the classroom and beyond.
The University of Houston offers ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) programs for the U.S. Army , Air Force and Navy . As a ROTC student, you'll not only earn a college degree, you'll also graduate as an officer in the U.S. Armed Services. With ROTC's generous scholarship programs, you may be able to graduate debt free, too.
ROTC programs at UH combine academics and hands-on training and take only a few hours a week to complete.
Academic Advising
Academic Advisers will assist you in developing your degree plan. Where you go for advising depends on your major and the point at which you are in your college careers.
The UScholars Academic Advising Center is designed to assist undergraduate students with core curriculum and Texas Success Initiative information, especially during the first year of enrollment. Students who have declared their majors are served by advisers in the department of their major or college advisers. Pre-professional and Postbaccalaureate students are advised in the UScholars Academic Advising Center.
Although some advisers accept walk-ins, it is best to call ahead to schedule time with your advieor or to make certain an adviser is available.
Graduate & Professional Programs
The University of Houston offers nearly 200 graduate programs, many of them highly ranked. Some of UH's top-performing graduate programs include chemical engineering, pharmaceutics, developmental cognitive science, civil engineering, mathematics, electircal engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, Spanish language and literature, clinical psychology, kinesiology, vision science/physiological optics and mechanical engineering.
